Whether you're expecting your first child or baby #4, pregnancy is always a good time to take deep breaths and evaluate your life. How is this new baby going to impact our family financially? Will I be returning to work? If so, when? If not, what adjustments do we need to make to our budget? And just how much does a baby cost?!
While I won't be able to give you answers to all of those questions, I'd like to offer a few tidbits that should make you breathe a little easier, stress a little less.
I have to tell you, I have three kids and, in writing this article I had to ask myself: so, just how much does a baby cost? A quick Google search led me to this great Baby Cost Calculator from Babycenter.com.
Over the next week or so, I'd like to write some very thorough posts on the following:
Cloth vs. Disposable Diapers
The Best in Baby Gear
Breastfeeding Your Baby
When in Doubt, Go Gender-Neutral (clothing for baby)
Discounts and Coupons for Mom including Amazon Mom
Making Your Own Baby Food
Because this post is more of an introductory sneak peek as to what's to come, I feel like I might have cheated you a little bit. Well, I did give you that link to the awesome Babycenter baby cost calculator, but still. I'd never want anyone to leave here feeling cheated so...
One of the great tips many of my frugal friends have shared with me over the past few years is to write emails to companies whose products you often purchase. A short message with a few sincere compliments almost always yields coupons for discounted-- and sometimes even free-- products. And nobody loves free more than an expectant momma, right? Therefore, in no particular order, I give you links to contact various baby affiliated companies:
I am sure I am forgetting some, so feel free to comment below to remind everyone of other baby products!
